What is your word?

I’ve always loved lettering and the shape and meaning of words, so two years ago I began asking people what word I could draw for them that would mean the most. After doing over 1000 of them for patients in a hospital, I can tell you it does something to people to see what lives inside them, oftentimes unnoticed. A light comes on. A smile erupts. Tears sometimes flow. And they always seem surprised by how good it makes them feel.

Words have power. Especially when you choose the one that contains the medicine you need in your life.

Here are some of the words patients have asked me for. There is a very personal story behind each one, but just seeing them might trigger a story about your own life that you need to pay attention to.
